FREE FOR RESIDENTS: Louisiana residents enjoy free admission every Thursday, courtesy of The Helis Foundation's Art for All program. To take advantage of this, please visit the museum to gain free entry.

Ogden Museum of Southern Art is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (With the exception of Mardi Gras weekend, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day New Years Day.)

(The last Thursday of each month will include an art talk and meditation!)

Free with admission, but advanced registration is preferred.

 

Refresh your day with a free, thirty-minute “drop in '' meditation at Ogden Museum led by Museum Educator and yoga instructor Mikhayla Harrell.

  • All experience levels are welcome.
  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the session begins

In Buddhist traditions, learning and practice is always free, but the practice of Dāna is an act of practicing generosity. Registration is FREE for Louisiana residents, but if you are able, please consider a donation of $5 to help us continue to present creative arts programming inspired by Southern art and artists.

Artist Workshop

All workshops take place Saturdays 10am – 1pm central time. 
For adults 18 and up.

Join Art Educator Mikhayla Harrell for a fun, inventive and playful four week After School Art Studi-O. Students will learn about the collection in the museum, tour the exhibitions, sharpen painting and drawing skills and make artwork inspired by the art we discuss. This is a great opportunity for blossoming artists to try out new materials, make friends with other young creatives and expand upon their interests in art.

Homeschool StudiO

Homeschoolers are invited to Ogden Museum of Southern Art for a program designed specifically for Homeschool students. Join art educator Mikhayla Harrell for an interactive tour and art activity exploring Southern art, artists and artmaking. From abstraction, sculpture, printmaking and beyond, a new theme and media will be investigated each session.

 

January - May 2024

1-3:00 pm. 

$30 per student. Price includes museum admission, tour, art activity and one free admission for an adult chaperone.

Join art educators Nidia Morales and Mikhayla Harrell for week-long workshops that highlight exciting works by Tina Girouard and the Ogden’s Permanent Collection and give campers the chance to learn from professional artists. Through a series of small, specialized camps, one week camps kids in grades 2 through 5 can explore painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, installation and much more!

Each session Space is limited, register today to reserve your camper’s spot!

Students should come with a water bottle, snack, lunch and an extra layer each day.

9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Aspiring photographers of all levels are invited to join multidisciplinary artist Nidia Morales, in a fun and exciting summer camp program. The camp focuses on the technical basics of photography, such as exposure, composition, and lighting. Through hands-on experience campers learn the artistic elements of photography, such as storytelling, portraiture, documentary, and critique. Daily field trips to area institutions, galleries and Museums, enhance each day’s theme. Campers build a portfolio of work, a selection of which is exhibited in a student-curated showcase opening on White Linen Night at Ogden Museum. 

Campers are encouraged to bring their own digital camera or use the camera on their phone.

Fashion Camp 2024

Fashion Camp with RicRACK NOLA 
For Campers Entering Grades 5 – 8

Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 26 (2 weeks) 
9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
$500 Members per session/$550 non-members per session

What does the future of fashion look like? Join instructors from RicRACK in an engaging fashion camp focused on sustainability in fashion. Campers spend part of the day creating their feature outfit and part exploring how to be environmentally conscious citizens. Campers learn sewing and design skills that include re-use, repurpose and “greener” ways to dress, while also honoring diverse bodies and aesthetics. The camp culminates in a fun and sustainable Fashion Show that highlights the students’ design process and showcases their outfits in both action and function.

Florida Stories: A Conversation with Author Lauren Groff and Visual Artist Allison Janae Hamilton, hosted by the Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition presented by The Helis Foundation at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art

Both internationally acclaimed visual artist Allison Janae Hamilton and bestselling author Lauren Groff draw inspiration from the state of Florida to create poignant, affecting works that address the past, present and ever-changing landscapes of this region. In celebration of Hamilton’s sculpture, "Love is like the sea....," currently on view with the Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition presented by The Helis Foundation, visit Ogden Museum for a conversation between these two women exploring their influences, inspiration and relationships with the environment, culture, and climate of the American South.
