Three Afternoons of Mindfulness and Abstract Painting inspired by Dusti Bonge
Join us for a series of three workshops incorporating simple mindfulness meditation practices and observation techniques to create contemplative abstract paintings. Artist and educator Mikhayla Anderson will facilitate these unique workshops inspired by the styles of Dusti Bonge’s Abstract Expressionist oeuvre.

May 18: Fierce Dedication – An Abstract Painting Workshop to Refresh Your Creativity
Dusti Bonge has been described as a woman with a "fierce dedication to a creative life." How did her art-making practice reflect this intense focus and how do we observe it in the color palette of her paintings? Connect with your creative source in this afternoon workshop of deep observation, exploratory color mixing, and abstract painting.

June 15: Moving Shapes – The Power of Repetition through Abstract Painting
Looking at the work of Dusti Bonge we can see patterns emerge from the chaos of an abstracted surface. These patterns begin as familiar objects from sailboats, to windows, to tall cypress swamp trees and move into pure expressions of movement and color. From precision to chaos, learn how to observe and create an abstract painting based on repetition. What shape, symbol, form, landscape is worth repeating in your own abstract painting?

July 13: Arrow in the Wall – Refining your Focus
Dusti Bonge and her son Lyle were known to read and discuss books together over her lifetime. This workshop examines excerpts from “The Zen of Archery,” by Eugan Herrigel, a book they explored repeatedly, and how it affected her later works. Put your keen focus and painting into play while creating your own Abstract Expressionist piece.
