Artist Workshop

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday October 26

10:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

The work of William Christenberry spans from pioneering color photography, abstract expressionist paintings, sculptures and some lesser-known ink and pencil drawings. In this workshop, we will investigate abstraction and simplification techniques while using ink on large format paper and a limited color palette, inspired by Christenberry’s reflections on the gourd tree so prevalently displayed throughout the Hale County landscape. What do you notice in the Louisiana country-side? What objects call for your attention? What inspires you to abstraction? Each session begins with a visual assessment of the artworks and a brief guided meditation. It is our hope that these moments of concentration and quiet mindfulness will enhance your artistic experience. As always, materials are provided, but feel free to bring source materials or supplies that might enhance your creative narrative.
