Artist Workshop: Mythology & Mishima

Mishima is the technique Miki Glasser uses to achieve the fine blue lines on the surface of her pots. Workshop participants will each be provided with a wet ceramic tile, and, using a needle tool, will inscribe drawings directly into the surface of the clay. A thin layer of blue glaze will be applied to the lines and scraped or wiped off of the surface, leaving only the delicate line trapped in the clay, embedded forever like a tattoo! Miki will fire the pieces and return them to the Ogden Museum for pick-up by workshop participants.
